The PPM leader distanced himself from AD because he believed that Montenegro should “make itself known”

PPM President Gonçalo da Camara Pereira said this Thursday that he is not participating in the electoral campaign of the Democratic Alliance (AD), because he understands that it is up to coalition leader Luis Montenegro to assert himself.

“No, I was not silenced, I was the one who left. When we created the coalition, I accepted the leader. Under no circumstances can I walk next to the leader. [como que a dizer] “I am here, I am here,” said Gonçalo da Camara Pereira, when asked by journalists whether the AD coalition (PSD/CDS-PP/PPM) had silenced him.

Speaking at the political initiative that took place in Porto do Funchal, Madeira, the PPM President assured that he supports AD, but stated that “the leader has a program that he must carry out, he must carry out the program and assert himself.” like a true leader.”

Gonçalo da Camara Pereira acknowledged that his departure could create the impression that the coalition is not united, but assured that this is not the goal.

“Maybe I convey this image, but that was not the goal. The goal is for the leader to establish himself as the great leader that he is, and I know that he is. And he must declare himself as a leader, the figures do not have to be next to him, hand in hand,” he confirmed.

“We, the NPM, want to be useful, we don’t want to be seen too much. We want to be useful in the coalition, and the NPM is a party that can be useful in the coalition,” he added.

Regarding the recent police protests, Gonçalo da Camara Pereira considered this class to be “unprotected” and expressed “full support” for these professionals.

Regarding the right to strike, he said it was a “somewhat sensitive issue”, explaining that it could jeopardize national security.

“They must be well paid, well organized and well integrated into society,” he stressed.

The PRM leader is in Madeira until Sunday, accompanied by the party’s list leader for the March 10 legislative elections in Madeira’s constituency, Paulo Brito.
