André Ventura denied this Saturday the existence of secret negotiations between Chega and the Democratic Alliance (AD).
President Chegui reacted to the statements made this Saturday by José Luis Carneiro in the context of the rally of the Socialist Party (PS) in Guimarães. “I am told that there are hidden negotiations between the AD and other parties regarding the future, but the Portuguese have the right to know what the behind-the-scenes negotiations are about,” said the head of Braga’s socialist list.
Asked about this topic before the riots in the Praia da Areia Branca area of Lorignan, Andre Ventura replied: “I can guarantee that there is no secret conversation taking place, and at this stage it is not possible. José Luis Carneiro provided details of the alleged negotiations between AD and other parties. “We had many citizens who came to us and said: “Be careful, because we have various information that they are negotiating behind the back of the Portuguese for a future union, even with those who are against the constitutional values that we we protect.” “, he added.
Ventura stated that he did not know whether José Luis Carneiro was referring to Chega, but admitted that “eventually” this could be the case.
“But I am the president of Chegi, so I will be here to say what will happen. There are no ongoing conversations on this issue,” he insisted.
However, President Chega, based on published opinion polls, argued that “the majority of the right will consist of two parties: with Chega, with AD and SDP”, emphasizing that this would be necessary. “Find management solutions here.”

Ventura once again called on Luis Montenegro to clarify whether he would allow the PS to govern the country if the Socialists win the elections but the right has a majority in parliament.
“Why can’t Luis Montenegro say this? If there is a right-wing majority, the right will rule. Because he knows that he needs Chega and he is stuck between Chega and the PS, and this raises the suspicion that he is closer to the Socialist Party than to the changes that the country needs,” he said.
President Chegi also considered that if the leader of the Social Democrats “decides not to leave [da liderança do PSD] and block the entire management process, he can do it.”
