Two women, aged 23 and 31, were arrested on Wednesday for robbing elderly people in Tavira. According to the GNR, after committing one of the crimes, the suspects were pursued by members of the public.
One of the women was approached by a garda soldier, while the other was intercepted by residents and taken to the police station. Following a police investigation, GNR discovered that a 23-year-old woman had stolen a gold thread from an elderly man and that she was suspected of another attempted theft. The second was charged with theft in Albufeira.
The military also established that the suspects were assisted in committing the crimes by two accomplices, two men aged 21 and 28. They were hiding in the car and revealed a suspicious attitude towards the presence of the GNR. When they were checked, their connection to the crimes could be understood.
Thanks to these police actions, and with the cooperation of the Tavira Public Security Police, it was possible to link all the suspects to other crimes that occurred in the north of the country. During the investigation, three mobile phones, 268.38 euros in cash and a car were seized. to whom they were transported.
This Thursday, the detainees will undergo their first judicial interrogation with the aim of applying coercive measures.
