Samuel Portugal costs 250 thousand euros a month not to play

Porto spent another 1.5 million euros on Samuel Portugal. The information is contained in the full reporting report for the 1st half of the current season.

In September 2022, when the Portimonense goalkeeper was signed, Porto paid 2.5 million euros for 55% of the economic rights. Between July and December last year he purchased an additional 35% of the pass for €1.5 million. In other words, the Dragons spent €4 million in 16 months on a player who was never used by Sergio Conceicao. That’s an investment of €250,000 a month for a goalkeeper who has only been on the bench ten times in a season and a half (seven in 2022/23 and three in 2023/24).

The full half-year results report sent to the CMVM on Wednesday evening also shows that Porto incurred additional costs of €2.3 million on the signings of Alan Varela and Nico Gonzalez and that the sale of Otavio for €60 million brought in €39.6 million Euro net.
