On Tuesday, the PSD president responded that he was not in the playing field when asked about Chega’s leader’s statements about supposed guarantees of post-election alliances, saying he felt the party’s and PS’s voters were heading towards an ANNOUNCEMENT.
“Those who spend their whole lives talking about us or talking about things that no one knows where they came from are sending a signal to voters: don’t count on us to solve your problems,” Luis Montenegro said, answering questions from journalists during the street in Aveiro.
Faced with journalists’ insistence on Andre Ventura’s claims that Social Democratic leaders would defend the PSD-Cega agreement after Sunday, he responded: “I’m not in the playground.”
“Today I see that many potential PS and Chegi voters are joining in supporting AD because they see that this is where we can find real solutions to people’s problems,” he added.
Montenegro repeated the idea that AD’s candidacy “does not divide, there is no us and them, left and right, there are people.”
“Every day I feel more and more responsible in the sense that, looking at the political party panorama, I see how the leader of the PS and the leader of Chegi talk about things that do not interest people and increase the responsibility of AD and mine,” – he thought.
In an interview with RTP television on Monday evening, Andre Ventura said right-wing parties must say whether they are ready to “reach an understanding” if they reach a majority in legislative elections to form a stable government.
Ventura pointed out that there are PSD leaders who have “made themselves known publicly,” naming the names of Pedro Passos Coelho, Miguel Relvas, Ángelo Correia and Rui Gomes da Silva.
Upon arriving at the dinner/meeting in Portalegre, President Chegi was asked whether these Social Democrats had conveyed this position directly to him, and he replied that they had not.
This Tuesday, when asked whether the news would create a stir in the election campaign, Montenegro repeated his message.
“I look at these facts, at this news, and I say to myself: you need to have even more opportunities, an even greater sense of responsibility, to give an answer that these political agents are not giving. The conclusion I see voters coming to. Vote for AD,” he concluded, addressing voters who were disappointed in the PS and Chege.
In AD, he added that “there is a safe answer,” in health care, in responding to young people and retirees.
“This global vision of our society, aimed at greater prosperity and greater social justice, is what is important about this campaign. I can sum up the rest for you: I am not involved in the playground,” he said.
As soon as he finished these statements, Montenegro played the big drum, said the letter V for victory, and sang with the delegation the new election anthem, whose motto is “I walk with Portugal.”
