PAN spokesperson Ines Souza Real considers this Thursday a natural time to strengthen NATO after Sweden became the 32nd member of the Atlantic Alliance, arguing that “the world is going through a very difficult geopolitical situation.”
“There is a common NATO project that guarantees the security of its members and in this sense, in addition to respecting the sovereignty of each country and praising the fact that this step was taken, we cannot forget that the world is now experiencing a very difficult geopolitical situation. a situation with a constant threat from Russia, but also the rise of China itself, among other aspects,” emphasized Ines Souza Real.
The head of the PAN list in Lisbon commented this Thursday on Sweden’s official status as a new NATO member on the sidelines of a visit to the Armed Forces Disabled Association – ADFA.
“It is natural that this project will ultimately have to be strengthened in some way,” he emphasized.
However, Ines Sousa Real recalled that despite the fact that her party is pacifist, “she is aware that only at this moment common projects (…) such as the European Union and the strengthening of the European social foundation are fundamental to ensure restoring the world.”
This Thursday, Sweden officially became the 32nd member of NATO after completing all the formalities for its integration into the military organization, and Hungary deposited its protocol of accession in Washington.
