A GNR source told Lusa that the roads were not closed at 8:00 am, noting that snow plows were on the ground and pointing to more serious concerns in the areas of Populo and Justes on the A4 (Vila Real – Bragança) motorway, and the A24 in Vila Poca de Aguiar (Vila Real – Chaves) and also on the main route 4 (IP4) to Alto Espinho (Serra do Maran).
The Civil Defense of Vila Poca de Aguiar also reported that this morning there are no roads closed in the municipality, but traffic on them is limited, noting that a truck was blocked by snow on the national road (EN) 206 in Silveira, before entering the A24 motorway.
On Friday, the National Emergency Management and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) warned the public to take preventive measures due to worsening atmospheric conditions over the next 48 hours, rough seas, wind and snowfall.
The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) forecasts snowfall of more than 800/1000 meters in northern and central areas this weekend, as well as rough seas with waves of up to seven meters on the coast. , western region, reaching a maximum height of 11 meters.
