The food served in the canteen of the Bela Vista PSP police station in Porto means “poor quality of food” and “poor level of hygiene”, said this Saturday Newspaper. The findings were based on tests paid for by a police officer unhappy with the food.
More than 20 police officers, including the officer in question, took part in the training at the Bela Vista Police Station last Thursday. There was only an hour left for lunch, and they had to eat in the cafeteria. The lunch, which consisted of fried chicken with potatoes, rice and salad, caused general displeasure.
The food served by the private company had a “high total microbial content,” according to the lab technicians’ report. Upon learning of the results, the police officer drew up a report against the company. The case will be transferred to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
PSP has already responded to the incident, saying it is taking action to promote “contractual (…) hygiene measures and the elimination of potential food safety hazards.”
