“Progressive teachers do not pay salaries to fascists! Down with Canaveiro! Down with Thiago Moreiro and Sá,” was the message that painted black the outer wall of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at the New University of Lisbon, on Avenida de Berna, earlier this week.
The act of vandalism was committed against professor and deputy Thiago Moreira de Sa and professor of the Faculty of Political Science Manuel Filipe Canaveira.
“50 years after April 25, there are still those who want to punish teachers for crimes of political thought. They obviously won’t let me down. Neither fascism nor the extreme left will pass with me,” responded Thiago Moreira de Sa on the X platform (formerly Twitter).
Augusto Santos Silva, previously President of the Assembly of the Republic, defended the deputy.
“I reject the threat against Thiago Moreira de Sá, MP and professor, written on the wall of the faculty where he teaches. We must be firm in the fight against vandalism and intimidation, wherever it comes from. Hugs to Thiago,” he also wrote on platform X.
