Additional route No. 2 (IC2) reopened this Friday at 8:30 am near Moncalva, in the municipality of Pombal, after an accident with serious injuries, sources in Civil Protection and GNR told Lusa.
Two other people were injured without serious injury in a crash between a truck and a car that closed traffic in both directions on the IC2 highway near Moncalva.
According to the Sub-Regional Command of the Leiria Region, the accident occurred shortly after 3:00 am this Friday and at 6:30 am traffic was still closed as a heavy vehicle carrying drinks dumped its load on the road.
The injured were taken to hospital in Leiria, the district where the accident occurred.
A source in the People’s Republic of Poland added to Lusa that a 26-year-old woman was seriously injured.
There were 20 first responders on the scene, supported by eight fire engines from Pombal, GNR and the National Institute of Emergency Medicine (INEM). At 6:15 the number of media was already smaller.
