Suspected of assaulting a GNR soldier who was off duty at dawn on Saturday in Tomar (Santarem), has a “police file for a violent crime” having reported to the Aveiro Judicial Police Department.
The National Directorate of the Judicial Police (JP) said in a statement that the 41-year-old man has been detained and is awaiting his first judicial interrogation regarding the use of coercive measures.
According to the report, the Department of Criminal Investigations of the Leiria SP “immediately investigated the criminal involvement of a qualified assassination in the form of an attempt, the victim of which was a 28-year-old NPR soldier, facts that took place in the early morning of the 28th. [sábado]in a nightclub in the city of Tomar.
“The victim received blows with a blunt object in the face and neck, injuries can threaten his life,” the note says.
The SP adds that the suspect also attacked another GNR soldier, “this fact will also be attributed to him.”
The statement also indicates that after the start of the investigation process to formalize the arrest of the perpetrator of the attacks, he appeared at the SP in Aveiro.
