Public Safety Police (PSP) made 264 arrests, 125 of which were for traffic offenses and 70 for drink driving between Friday and Monday as part of Operation Safe Easter.
PSP said in a statement that of the 264 arrests, 55 were due to lack of a driver’s license.
From Friday, the day the operation began, until Monday, 28 drug trafficking suspects were arrested and more than 3,607 individual doses were seized.
There were also 16 arrests made for property crimes (fraud, theft and robbery).
During this period, either as a precaution or following five arrests for possession of prohibited weapons, eight firearms and six bladed weapons were also confiscated.
As part of the operation, the PSP screened 10,731 drivers across the territory and monitored 23,431 drivers using radar. Of these, 298 were speeding.
A total of 1,927 administrative offenses were recorded, of which 48 were for driving while intoxicated, 205 for lack of mandatory periodic technical inspection, 70 for lack of civil liability insurance, 54 for using a mobile phone while driving and 27 for not wearing clothes. safety belt.
In terms of road traffic accidents, from Friday to Monday, 509 road accidents were recorded in the PSP area of responsibility, resulting in 148 minor injuries and seven serious injuries, with no fatalities.
In the note, PSP again calls on citizens to drive safely by adapting their driving to weather conditions and road conditions.
