“We made a lot of mistakes when selecting players. And we lost a lot, a lot of money. We need to create competitive teams. We have a unique legacy from President Pinto da Costa. This is our historical past, we have to honor it, and there will be pressure in this direction,” Andre Villas-Boas said yesterday.
The presidential candidate of FC Porto spoke at the club’s house in Afurad, where he promoted his election campaign this Sunday. In between attacks on Pinto da Costa, Villas-Boas continued to criticize the club’s financial policies.
“Over the last 12 years we have accumulated 250 million euros in liabilities. Now they have grown to 500 million.” Next to him was Ruy Pedro, son of the late coach José Maria Pedroto, an authority figure at the club.
