BE MP Marisa Mathias was surprised this Monday to discover that the PS found that “after all, there are budgetary conditions” to solve problems that the vast majority did not respond to, hoping that the PSD would fulfill its election promises.
During a press conference in Parliament to announce the presentation of the income support bill, Marisa Matias was questioned by journalists about the letter that the leader of the Social Democratic Party, Pedro Nuno Santos, sent today to Prime Minister Luis Montenegro, expressing his readiness to negotiate income support . an agreement that, within 60 days, will regulate the position of certain professional groups in public administration.
“These problems already existed and the majority of PSs did not want to solve any of them, having the conditions for this, and therefore it is somehow curious that now, it seems, there is a discovery that there are budgetary conditions and conditions, including for to be able to respond to teachers, court workers, medical workers and security forces,” he said.
What the BE leader hopes is that election promises will be “kept by everyone”.
“We regret that it is too late, but in this particular case, since these problems have yet to be resolved, we will do everything in our power to put pressure on the government to not just use words, but to act more and achieve compliance like the Government of what he said during the election campaign,” he emphasized.
According to Marisa Mathias, there is no point in delaying the solution of these problems, knowing that there are conditions for their solution, since BE is concerned that “teachers can see that their careers are not frozen, that medical workers have conditions, that judicial officials have conditions and that the forces also have security.”
“We noticed that the PSD, during the election campaign, very quickly made promises to solve these problems that are central at the moment,” he began with a mention, warning that since “it ceased to be a campaign and became official, on the part of Luis Montenegro and the government is no longer as clear about the fulfillment of these promises.”
Warning about “some failures and very vague statements about the intention to fulfill these promises,” the bloc deputy recalled that the party had already submitted proposals to parliament so that “all these promises would be fulfilled.”
“And we will be here to put pressure on the SDP to implement what it said during the election campaign,” he stressed.
The Prime Minister today welcomed the PS leader’s “show of political responsibility and commitment” and promised to schedule a “appropriate working meeting” on career and pay improvements in public administration.
“I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that in due course we will be planning a working meeting on this topic, which should take place after negotiations with representative labor organizations. The timing and manner of conducting these negotiation processes will obviously depend on what the government will decide,” says Luis Montenegro in response to a letter sent to him today by Pedro Nuno Santos and to which Luza had access.
This response followed a letter sent earlier by Socialist Party Secretary General Pedro Nuno Santos, in which he provided the opportunity to negotiate an agreement that would, within 60 days, regulate the situation of certain professional groups in public administration.
In this letter addressed to Luis Montenegro, to which the Luz agency had access, Pedro Nuno Santos adds that “the existence of a PS for this agreement presupposes preliminary negotiations with organizations representing workers.”
