The state program contains about 60 measures from other parties

The program of the XXIV Constitutional Government was presented this Wednesday to the Assembly of the Republic after approval by the Council of Ministers.

At a press conference, Presidential Minister Leitan Amaru said the program was based on AD’s electoral program but included about 60 measures from other parties.

“I would like to note that in the spirit of dialogue that we practice, this government program contains several dozen proposals from other parties. There are at least 60 measures that come from other parties that have seats in parliament,” he assured.

“They include such diverse issues as the 20% reduction in autonomous vehicle taxation under the IRC, presented by the PS, the guarantee of maintaining the majority position of the State of the Agência Lusa, presented by Livre, and I also think that the PS or justice measures, culture or conservation, there are many of them,” he said.

He also emphasized that “there is a lot that divides” the parties, but there is also “a lot” in which they share “specific opinions and decisions.”

“This is also a government program for an open, global country, committed to Europeanism, the digital and energy transition and a very strong commitment to fighting corruption,” he said.

Leitan Amaru also reported that the government has approved an updated version of the Stability Program, which will be presented to parliament on April 15. The document is based on an unchanged policy and does not yet include measures provided for in the executive program.
The Government has decided that the presentation of the Big Options Bill will be approved by the Government to be sent to the Assembly of the Republic within 90 days of the assumption of office by the Executive.

The Minister of the Presidency assured that the government’s priorities are “unfolding.”

Leitan Amaro assured that the executive branch is “fully committed” to the “goal of fiscal responsibility.”

The Minister of the Presidential Administration was asked about the searches in news reports in the Cascais chamber, as well as some in which the Minister of Infrastructure and former vice-president of that municipality Miguel Pinto Luz would be targeted, and called on a government official to clarify whether this PSD leader could leave the government if he is recognized as a suspect or accused.

“We have no information about ongoing investigations other than what is reported in the media. We have to wait for clarification from the investigating authorities and interested parties (…) The only thing I would like to say is that in fairness it must work and do its job,” he said.
