This Wednesday, the Maritime Police carried out a mega operation against the illegal fishing of bivalve shellfish in the districts of Lisbon and Setúbal, seizing to date 11 tons of shellfish and naming nine accused.
In a note published on its website, the National Maritime Authority (ANM) indicates that this operation, called “King”, is carried out in the municipalities of Lisbon, Vila Franca de Xira (Lisbon district) and Palmela (Setúbal district), where authorities are conducting several house searches.
To date, authorities have recovered 11 tons of Japanese shellfish and charged nine defendants, and seized three vehicles, as well as various documentation related to commodity fraud, forgery, or forgery crimes.
The operation, aimed at combating criminal networks associated with the illegal harvesting, trade and international trafficking of Japanese shellfish, is coordinated by NCIS Central Criminal Investigations Unit with the cooperation of ASAE (Administration of Food and Economic Security). , PSP and Spanish National Police.
