The search for the 16-year-old boy who disappeared at sea on the beach of Salgueiros in Vila Nova de Gaia resumed this Sunday at 8 am using land and sea resources, a Civil Protection source told Lusa.
Speaking to Lusa, Douro port commander Rui Lamprea explained that firefighters from Aguda, Coimbroes, Valadares, Zapadores de Vila Nova de Gaia and the marine police are on the scene.
There are two ATVs, dismounted patrol officers and two jet skis on the ground, and a NCIS Northern Regional Office psychologist is also on site to support the young man’s family.
The young man was reported missing at 6:34 pm on Friday after the boy, who could not swim, was caught by a wave on a beach in the Porto area.
Saturday’s search, which began at 7:00 a.m. and paused at sunset at 8:10 p.m., was carried out one mile (1.6 kilometers) north, one mile south and two miles deep.
The young man, according to Rui Lamprei, was on the beach with his friends.
