The oldest dog in the world is Portuguese and has already entered the Guinness Book of Records.

The oldest dog in the world, listed in the Guinness Book of Records, is called Bobi, she is Portuguese. The animal, born on May 11, 1992, is not only the oldest living dog, but also the oldest dog in history.

Bobi is 30 years and 266 days old. He lives with the Costa family in the village of Conqueiros in Leiria.

Bobi is a Rafeiro Alentejano dog breed, a guard dog commonly used for livestock control, with an average lifespan of 12 to 14 years.

The animal broke the record previously set by Bluey, an Australian Cattle Dog who lived to be 29 years and 5 months old.

Bobi’s age has been verified by the Pet Information System (SIAC), a pet database approved by the Portuguese government and managed by the Sindicato Nacional dos Médicos Veterinários; National Union of Veterinarians (SNMV).
