At the start of negotiations with teachers’ unions to reinstate frozen working hours, Education Minister Fernando Alexandre expressed readiness to increase the number of teachers in June and stressed that the return would be finalized in the legislature by 2028. “We proposed that the first tranche of seniority compensation be paid after 60 days, and the minister said that during this period it would be possible to recover 20 percent, it depends only on negotiations with the unions,” Julia Azevedo, president of the Independent Trade Union, told the CM of teachers and Educators (SIPE), which calls for reimbursement of 6 years, 6 months and 23 days in four tranches and defends that negotiations should be completed before teacher certification in June.
