This Monday, the Order of Nurses (OE) submitted 16 proposals to Health Minister Ana Paula Martins for inclusion in the government’s emergency plan for the sector, expressing concern about a shortage of 14,000 nurses.
“We left 16 proposals to the minister [da Saúde] for an emergency plan to be drawn up. Most of these measures are based on the problem of access and improving access to health care. Today, nurses have a set of skills that can be used to serve the country, which is why we have retained these proposals,” said OE President Luis Filipe Barreira.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting at the Ministry of Health, Luis Filipe Barreira said that Ana Paula Martins assured that the issue of career development will be “in terms of a motivation plan and a contingency plan that she will prepare and that she will present in the near future.” .
According to Luis Filipe Barreira, the governor will meet with unions to discuss nursing careers and wage conditions.
The Ministry of Health team today began a series of meetings with professional industry associations, and the week also marked the start of negotiations with trade unions.
