Portuguese artist Bordalo II covered Salazar’s grave with a giant box of medicine and shared the image on Instagram with the description: “Anti-fascist probiotic.”
In the published video, the artist showed the path of the box to the grave of Oliveira de Salazar in the village.Vimieiro emétério, in Santa Comba Dau.
“We cannot be distracted and take freedom for granted. On the contrary, we must protect it and exercise it every day. April 25th also serves as a reminder of this to us!” the description reads. The artist also states that “freedom is respecting differences, demanding universal fundamental rights, and allowing the expression of free thought and creativity.”
“And by the way, if we don’t take care of our democracy, it will be buried and it will come to an end,” Bordalo II ends in a commentary on the publication itself.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary on April 25, Bordallo II also showed on social networks the facade of a building in Mealhada with an image of a woodpecker and next to it a poster with a corresponding first aid kit.
