Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira (Aprilia) finished this Saturday in ninth place in the sprint race of the Spanish MotoGP Grand Prix, the fourth round of the season, won by Spaniard Jorge Martin (Ducati).
The Portuguese driver, who started from 14th position on the grid, finished 18.418 seconds behind Jorge Martin, who took 19.52.682 minutes to complete the 12 scheduled laps.
Spaniard Pedro Acosta (GasGas) finished second with a score of 2.970, and Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) was third with a score of 7.052, starting from 23rd position in the table.
Spaniard Dani Pedrosa (KTM), a test rider for the Austrian team who participated in the fourth round of the season as a guest, finished fourth, 7.102 seconds behind the winner.
Miguel Oliveira made a bad start and dropped to 19th place, but on the third lap he was 15th when defending champion Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) fell, pinned by African Brad Binder (KTM). and Italian Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati).
Also on this lap, Jorge Martin took the lead, overtaking the Spaniard Marc Marquez (Ducati), who started from pole position.
The former world champion returned to first place on the seventh lap, but fell alone, without physical consequences.
From then on, Jorge Martin finally took command and was never bothered by the race leaders again.
But there was no shortage of excitement and falls. A total of nine riders retired from the race after falling to the ground without any physical consequences.
Miguel Oliveira was in seventh place but was overtaken by Marc Marquez and Spaniard Augusto Fernandez (GasGas) on the final lap, crossing the finish line in ninth final position.
With these results, Jorge Martin extended his lead at the top of the championship, now with 92 points, ahead of rookie Pedro Acosta, who has 63, after reaching the podium for the first time in the sprint race.
The Portuguese rider added one point to 14, ahead of Alex Marquez (Ducati) in 13th place.
The main race will take place on Sunday.
