CGTP requires government to have a ‘credible’ national health and safety policy

This Monday, CGTP-IN demanded from the government a “credible” national policy on occupational health and safety, preparation of studies on new occupational hazards and legislation on the issue.

In its statement, CGTP called on the chief executive to promote research into “new occupational risks such as digitalization and climate change, and how they can be prevented and minimized, and subsequently legislation on the issue.”

“The government must take responsibility in this matter by promoting strengthening of national occupational safety and health systems,” the CGTP said in connection with World and National Occupational Safety and Health Day observed on Sunday.

The CGTP requires “defining a coherent and credible national policy on occupational health and safety, promoting research into new occupational hazards, enacting laws to protect workers from these new risks, and investing in a reliable labor inspectorate equipped with full technical and human resources.” resources necessary for its full functioning.”

The CGTP also proposes that ACT coordinate with prosecutors “to hold accountable those who illegally and immorally continue to violate the most basic human rights in the workplace” and to “raise the value of collective bargaining as a right.” a fundamental and important tool also in protecting the safety and health of workers.”
