A 55-year-old man was found dead this Friday in the Amioso River, in Serte, Castelo Branco district, a source in the Beira Baixa subregional command told Lusa.
According to a civil defense source, the alarm was raised at 10:06 am by Serta volunteer firefighters.
According to the Beira Baixa sub-regional command, the body was recovered from the water, although no details about the circumstances of this incident are currently known.
Four vehicles and 14 operatives from the volunteer firefighters of Sertão and Cernas do Bonjardim, GNR, a psychologist from the Sertão City Council and a Covoins Ambulance and Resuscitation Vehicle (VMER) were present at the scene.
The body was later transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine of Castelo Branco, located on the premises of the Amato Lusitano Hospital.
