Ponta Delgada Hospital publishes email and telephone numbers of helpdesk for users

The Divino Espirito Santo Hospital (HDES) in the Azores, which was damaged by fire on Saturday, provides medical care in the field of gynecology and obstetrics to women and pregnant women via email.

According to HDES’s Facebook page, the hospital provided the email address [email protected] to “minimize unnecessary emergency room visits.”

The hospital says all women “with mild pelvic pain, abnormal vaginal discharge, symptoms suggestive of an uncomplicated urinary tract infection (burning when urinating, a feeling of heaviness in the pelvic area, or increased frequency of urination) or other gynecological or obstetric symptoms of mild severity may send an email. “

HDES states that the contact “will be assessed by a physician from the hospital’s Gynecology and Obstetrics Department as soon as possible” and users “will be informed of the treatment and/or need to contact the emergency Gynecology and Obstetrics service.”

In addition to this email, the hospital has also posted contact details for its palliative care helpline (911 584 061), outpatient pharmacy services (911 584 224) and endocrinology and nutrition services (911 585 902) on its Facebook page.

HDES says the general line – 296,203,000 – provides information on where hospitalized patients have been transferred.

In addition, contacts of all hospitals and IPSS that received patients are provided.

Thus, in the medical department of the island of São Miguel in Ponta Delgada – 296,249,220, in the Clinic do Bom Jesus – 296,285,352 and in the Casa da Nossa Senhora da Conceição – 296,306,320.

The fire at the Ponta Delgada hospital, which broke out on Saturday at 9:40 local time (in Lisbon at 10:40) and was declared extinguished only at 16:11, forced the transfer of 240 patients hospitalized in various institutions. places in the Azores, Madeira and on the continent.

The government of the Azores declared a state of public disaster on Sunday in order to “accelerate procedures” that will allow the activities of the largest Azorean medical institution to be normalized in a “short period of time.”

Clinical leaders announced on Wednesday that the hospital would gradually reopen, with the oncology and dialysis departments expected to reopen in stages next week.

A report on the damage from the fire has not yet been released.
