The Nigerian press reports that Tijani and Ibrahim Babangida, two brothers who were considered two of the most promising men in world football, were involved in a road accident in the last few hours. The first, now 50, was taken to hospital in serious condition, while the second, 47, succumbed to his injuries and died.
Tijani Babangida, who is currently the President of the Professional Footballers’ Association of Nigeria, was part of the formation of Roda in the Netherlands and even represented Ajax and Vitesse in the country. Ibrahim, in turn, stood out in Nigerian football clubs, where he wore Kano Pillars and Katsina United jerseys, among others.
Tijani’s wife and another person were in the same car and were also taken to hospital.
