MAI returns today to meet with PSP and GNR structures

The Minister of the Interior returns this Wednesday to meet with the PSP unions and the GNR associations regarding the addition to the mission, at the same time a police concentration is planned in the Praça do Comércio.

After Margarida Blasco two weeks ago presented a government proposal that completely displeased the security forces, the PSP trade unions and the GNR associations met again at the Ministry of Internal Administration (MAI), while already sending a counter proposal to the MAI. in which they defend an increase of approximately 600 euros by changing the current service and risk allowance in the security forces.

To challenge the proposal presented by the government, the PSP and GNR police have planned, through social networks, a rally from 14:00 in the Praça do Comércio square in Lisbon, a protest that is promoted by the “inop movement” and has logistical support from the Union of Vertical Police Careers. which does not have the right to negotiate with the guardianship due to the small number of members.

Given the concentration that will occur during the assembly of structures at MAI, elements of the PSP and GNR require “equal treatment in the appointment of a worthy addition to the mission.”

The representative of the platform uniting 11 PSP trade unions and GNR associations, Bruno Pereira, has already said that they will refuse negotiations with the government if MAI does not present “a new worthy proposal.”

The platform proposes to replace the current €100 paid to police officers as a security force service and risk allowance with a fixed component of €712.96, which would result in an effective increase of approximately €600.

In addition to this amount, the public security police unions and the socio-professional associations of the National Republican Guard are in favor of maintaining a variable part of the increase, which corresponds to 20% of the base salary, and want this increase to be paid retroactively. until January 1, 2023.

The current allowance paid to these security forces includes a fixed part of 100 euros and a variable part of 20% of the basic salary.

“Even if there is no immediate distribution of this value, we hope that a proposal can at least be tabled that meets this desire. We understand the limitations of the state, but whoever has committed to resolving this issue must actually commit to an effective resolution and which now does not lead to excuses or presumptive arguments to justify the unjustifiable nature of the refusal to appoint an addition to the mission,” said platform representative.

Bruno Pereira stressed that the police “won’t understand” if the government again puts forward “something like this undignified non-proposal” for discussion.

At the May 2 meeting, MAI proposed a new mission allowance for PSP and GNR elements ranging from €365.13 to €625.94.

The proposed allowance is based on the base salaries of the PSP National Director and the GNR Commander General and replaces the current Security Forces Service and Risk Allowance.

With this new mission allowance, officers will now receive a mission allowance of 12% of the base salary of the PSP National Director and GNR Commander, which is €5,216.23, while the percentage for PSP and GNR NCO Leaders is 9%. and for agents and security – 7%.

Although the meetings with the GNR associations and the PSP unions were separate, these structures presented a joint proposal through a platform created to demand a complementary mission identical to that which the previous government attributed to the judicial police.
