Finalist in the Catholic University competition at the age of 22.

22-year-old Joana de Melo Carvalho e Oliveira e Costa is the youngest member of the Lisbon city council. A Catholic University law finalist with no experience in local government, he took up his post in the largest local government in the country this Thursday. Joana Costa of the CDS-PP was on the list of the coalition led by Carlos. Moedas (SDP) in the 2021 local elections, in 5th place in reserve.

In his new positions, he gains skills in the areas of economics and innovation, participatory budgeting, advertising and use of public spaces, municipal markets, heritage stores and the Hub Criativo do Beato project.

On his LinkedIn page, the new advisor lists problem solving, communication, teamwork, creativity and event management as his core skills. Joana Costa will replace her party colleague Diogo Moura, who suspended his mandate at the request of Carlos Moedas (holder of the Culture portfolio) after he was accused of fraud in the CDS-PP internal elections.

Co-founder of the non-partisan Political Correctness Project, Joana Costa has been vice-president of the National Political Commission CDS since 2022. She volunteers with the Portuguese League Against Cancer and Overeating.
