At a rally in Évora, on the first day of the European election campaign, Luis Montenegro wanted to leave a message about Sunday’s regional elections in Madeira, which the PSD won with a relative majority but generalized criticism of the losers of various recent elections. vote.

“As long as we win elections, we will govern: we, the winners of the elections, are focused on governing, those who lost the elections are focused on intrigue,” he criticized.

Luis Montenegro accused those who lost the election of maintaining “arrogance and arrogance.”

“While those who win rule as they should, those who lose, instead of acting as constructive opposition, tend to intrigue with each other. Sometimes even with your own mirror: mirror, my mirror, who can manage things better than me,” he joked.

The Prime Minister also summed up the results of the first 40 days of government and assured that “this dynamic will definitely continue” and is not related to the proximity of the European elections on June 9.

“If anyone thinks that we are so dynamic because elections will take place on the 9th, do not be deceived: on the 10th, 11th we will have the same dynamics, the same desire for change,” he assured.

As an example, he announced that the government would unveil an emergency health program this week – a commitment that was made in the first 60 days of government.

Montenegro took advantage of its first participation in a European campaign to praise the qualities of European AD list leader Sebastian Bugalia.

“I never had any doubts, but the choice of the head of the list is now more than accepted by everyone: he is prepared, competent but at the same time sensitive,” he praised, saying that Sebastian Bugallo “identifies with the cycle” that AD I wanted to attract people into politics, to attract people who do not have a party into political parties.

However, the PSD leader left Sebastián Bugallo with an invitation of sorts: “He is independent, so we’ll see for how long.”

“This does not mean that there are not very good political cadres within the SDP, SDS-PP or PPM, but we must open up,” he said.

The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to call for voting in the European elections, recalling that on the 9th you can vote at any table in the country or in advance, on the following Sunday, as he himself will do.

“Vote, participate, these elections are important, the decisions in the European elections are becoming increasingly relevant to our daily lives,” he urged.

On the eve of the reception of the President of Ukraine in Portugal, Montenegro spoke not directly about that meeting with Vladimir Zelensky, but about the meaning of protecting this country from Russian aggression.

“War in Ukraine means protecting people, human rights, political rights, respect for international law, it is also a way of protecting democracy,” he said, ensuring that the government he leads – as he acknowledged the previous PS chief executive – will maintain respect for these values freedom.
