Intermittent fasting is more effective at improving gut health and weight control than simple calorie restriction, according to a study conducted at multiple North American research centers.
According to the findings, published in the journal Nature Communications and published by Europa Press, participants who followed a regimen of intermittent fasting and evenly consuming protein throughout the day recorded improvements in gut health, weight loss and metabolic responses.
A study conducted by Arizona State University concluded that the results were clearly superior to those observed in just the calorie-restricted group, just 41 people, for eight weeks.
