Coach says former Porto player still missing from rubble in Turkey

Hatayspor’s coach reported this morning that Christian Atsu has still not been found. Former Porto player and club sporting director Taner Savut has gone missing following an earthquake that rocked southern Turkey and Syria early Monday morning. Yesterday there was news that the footballer had been rescued, but this morning Volkan Demirel explained that Atsu is still missing.

“Please do not write that he survived without being sure. People have a family, hope, sadness and pain are growing,” Volkan Demirel explained in a statement to a Turkish newspaper.

“There is no news from Atsu and Taner Savut. Do you think I would not share information if they were in the hospital? I will share it as soon as the news comes. Save yourself. The whole team has taken refuge with their families. I will share everything as soon as information,” added the former Turkish goalkeeper.

The words of the coach were confirmed by the club doctor Gyurbey Kahvechi. “When we learned that he was taken to the Dortyol hospital, we went there, but there was nothing there. At the moment, we acknowledge that Taner and Atsu, unfortunately, have not been found, ”he said.

Remember that ransom information, yesterday published by the Turkish press– quotes the vice-president of Hatayspor Mustafa Ozat.
