Some bladed weapons that may have been used in a brawl that left one person dead and five injured in Fatima last weekend have been confiscated by Leiria’s judicial police, with no suspects yet in custody, police have found. CM.
The fatal victim was a 25-year-old Timorese resident in Fatima, as were the wounded, two of whom were hospitalized on Monday.
The investigation is of paramount importance, and the case is considered very complex, since it involved a large number of people – from 30 to 40 people, the motives are unknown, and the fight lasted several hours. It all started near a residential building, around 22:30 on Saturday, and continued on the streets of the city, where the group ran through the terraces, armed with knives and sticks, and ended up on Avenida D. José Alves Correia da Silva, almost in front of the Voluntary Fire Department team and not far from the GNR station.
The victim was noticed on the ground with several blows by fire department personnel and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victims were nearby.
On Monday, Fátima parish council president Humberto Silva expressed “concern” about “these conflicts between gangs, between migrant groups” that are causing “insecurity.”
