At a meeting Tuesday with a group of 160 priests from the Diocese of Rome, Francis once again said, according to the Italian news agency ANSA, that there is a “sissy atmosphere” in the Vatican.
The church should support homosexuals, but the best thing to do would be to stop them from entering seminaries, Francisco said. “They’re good guys, but it’s best not to come in,” he said.
According to sources present at the meeting, the Supreme Pontiff again used the Italian term “frociaggine”, which can be translated as “sissy”.
The Vatican’s official note said the pope “spoke about the danger of ideologies in the Church,” acknowledging that Francis had returned to the topic of admitting homosexuals into seminaries. This is the second time in less than a month that the Pope has used the term “frociaggine” again. On May 20, during a closed meeting with 250 bishops of the Italian Episcopal Conference (CEI), Francis called on bishops not to welcome openly gay people in seminaries.Following the controversy, the Vatican issued a statement saying that “the Pope never intended to offend or use homophobic language and apologizes to all those who felt offended.”
HOMOSEXUAL IS “NOT A CRIME”
Last January, Francisco said that “we are all children of God, and God loves us for who we are and the strength with which we all fight for our dignity. Being homosexual is not a crime. This is not a crime.”
RULES OF THE GUIDANCE DOCUMENT
The Church “cannot admit into the seminary or into the priesthood those who practice homosexuality, have deep-rooted homosexual tendencies or support so-called gay culture,” the Vatican says.
