Canoeist Fernando Pimenta won a silver medal in the European K1500 race

This Friday, canoeist Fernando Pimenta won the silver medal in the 500m K1 at the European Championships in Hungary, which runs until Sunday in Szeged, repeating his second place in 2023.

The Portuguese two-time Olympic medalist topped the podium, finishing in 1.38.222 minutes, behind Hungary’s Adam Varga (1.36.962), the 2023 European champion over the distance and Tokyo 2020 runner-up in the 1000m. in which Pimenta was bronze. Austrian Timon Maurer took third place.

It was the 143rd medal for Limiano, who also won silver at the 2023 European Games in Krakow in important international competitions, a wealth that he was able to consolidate on Sunday in the finals of the 1000 and 5000 meters at K1, and Portugal’s first medal at these championships.
