Portuguese swimmer Diogo Ribeiro won the 50m freestyle final of the Spanish Open Astralpool Trials Championships in Palma de Mallorca this Friday.
Diogo Ribeiro, who had already won gold in the 50m butterfly and bronze in the 100m freestyle in Palma de Mallorca, clocked 22.16 seconds, the same time as Spaniard Sergio de Celis Montalban.
The podium was completed by Spaniard Oscar Pascual Buldon (22.18).
The Benfica athlete qualifies for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, where he will arrive as world champion in the 100m butterfly.
Also this Friday, Mariana Cunha finished in fourth place in the 200m butterfly final. The Ephanor College swimmer finished in a personal best of 2.11.49 minutes.
The podium went to the Spaniards Luara Cabanes Garzas (2.09.03), Paula Justa Sanchez (2.09.50) and Julia Pujadas Rusinol (2.10.40).
The Portuguese swimmer, in excellent form, won silver in the 50m butterfly with a personal best (26.97 seconds) and in the 100m butterfly also with a personal best (58.82).
