The “City of Rock” opens its doors again today and Sunday in the Tagus Park for two days of rock in Rio Lisbon, featuring artists and bands such as the Jonas Brothers, Doja Cat, Macklemore, Ornatos Violeta and MC Cabelinho.
Under the motto “Everything in Rio,” the festival program includes dozens of concerts, presentations and performances located in 17 entertainment venues, five of which are stages.
The main concerts take place at Palco Mundo, which begins today with a performance by Carolina Deslandes and ends with a performance by the Jonas Brothers, where Ivete Sangalo and Macklemore are also welcomed.
Before the headliner’s performance, Palco Mundo holds a video mapping show.
On other music stages today, James, Filipe Karlsson, Fonzie and Os Ornatos Violeta, among others, will present a show celebrating the 25th anniversary of the album “O monster Need Friends”, which will feature Ana Deus, Gisela João, Samuel Aria and the string quartet Solistas da Casa da Música.
And since today is the day of the Portugal match at the European Football Championship, which is taking place in Germany, at 17:00 the “city of stone” will stop and the match with Turkey will be shown on all stages.
The place opens at 13:00, and from then on there is plenty to do.
There’s no shortage of Ferris wheels, slides and Rock Street at the 10th edition of the 20th anniversary Rock in Rio festival in Portugal, but there are also new venues such as Cupid’s House, where Elvis Presley and Amy Winehouse are set to celebrate a symbolic wedding .
Cupid’s House is one of the landmarks on Highway 85 created to “tell in a very playful way” the story of Rock’s 20th anniversary in Rio Lisbon and Rock’s 40th anniversary in Rio Brazil, which are celebrated in January 2025 but will be celebrated in this year.
The Tagus Park Palace, created to welcome the Pope during World Youth Day last August, is home to another new festival space, the All Experience, an interactive exhibition designed by Lisbon’s under-30 team Rock in Rio.
To get to the new festival site, the organization recommends using public transport.
After the first days of the 10th event, there were complaints from the public about the new venue – until the 9th edition of Rock in Rio Lisboa had always been held at the Parque da Bela Vista – as well as how to get to and from the venue. The “city of rock” organization announced that it was “preparing operations last week to improve the main themes highlighted by the public.”
So that the public is “alerted to information such as lines, food places with fewer lines, restrooms with fewer people, notices of upcoming concerts, etc.” “, an official Rock in Rio Lisboa WhatsApp channel has been created that “anyone can follow” to “get real-time information before and during the festival.”
The organization urged the public to use public transport to get to the venue, recalling that, in addition to the “shuttle” that runs between Estação do Oriente and the “city of stone”, there is the Sacavem train station, located a seven-minute walk from the venue and which “ I worked quietly on the first weekend.”
In addition, “for better mobility, changes will be made to traffic, with strict restrictions on entry into the northern part of the parish of Parc das Nações, namely the arteries adjacent to the Tagus Park, in order to ease traffic. the circulation of restrictions was tested on the first weekend.”
According to the festival organizers, “all changes in traffic and corresponding deviations from traffic will be coordinated in a timely manner by the police on the spot.”
Although there are restrictions on movement, “access will be guaranteed to residents and shopkeepers, provided they are accompanied by proof of residence.”
The first weekend was also marked by controversies with Barbara Guimarães and Sonia Tavares.
Rio Lisbon’s 10th Rock will end on Sunday, a day when tickets to the “city of stone” will sell out.
Aitana, Ne-Yo, Camila Cabello and Doja Cat will perform at Palco Mundo.
Other stages will include Pedro Sampaio, Luisa Sonza, Anselmo Ralph, ProfJam, MC Cabelinho, Veigh and April Ivy.
