A 30-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday morning for the crime of domestic violence in Coimbra, the PSP said in a statement.
The man currently in custody is a repeat offender of domestic violence, being a suspect in previous criminal cases involving two different victims, the Coimbra Public Security Police said in a statement sent today to the Lusa agency.
The suspect was arrested after attacking his 44-year-old partner on a public road in the Tovim area of Coimbra.
“In the presence of police, the victim, who had several bruises and injuries throughout his body, reported that he had been brutally assaulted by his partner during an argument,” the PSP said.
According to the statement, the woman said she was attacked, punched and kicked in the street and then dragged to her home, injuring several people.
The victim was taken to the Hospital and University Center of Coimbra (CHUC) for clinical observation.
