Mozambican PR accepts congratulations on the 49th anniversary of the country’s independence

The President of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, received this Wednesday congratulations from the United States of America, the United Nations, the United Arab Emirates and India on the occasion of the country’s 49th anniversary of independence, which was celebrated on Tuesday.

US President Joe Biden welcomed Nyusi and the people of Mozambique and highlighted the nearly 50-year partnership between the two countries, especially in the areas of education, agriculture and health, recalling that the United States has helped Mozambique in the fight against HIV/SIDA, guaranteeing “the well-being of 2 million Mozambicans “

“This year, our countries will hold national elections in which the people of both countries will have the opportunity to determine the future of democracy and multi-party governance. The success of free and fair elections in Mozambique can demonstrate that strong democratic institutions can ensure a brighter and more prosperous future for all,” Biden emphasized in a message sent to Filipe Nyusi and released today by the President of Mozambique.

On Tuesday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken congratulated the people of Mozambique on the 49th anniversary of independence, also highlighting the partnership between both countries in “vital” areas such as health, climate change, deforestation, security and education.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres also congratulated the people of Mozambique on 49 years of independence, highlighting the country’s efforts to maintain peace and combat climate change.

“The context we are experiencing calls for solidarity and the search for common solutions to promote peace, sustainable development and human rights. As we celebrate this important day, let us commit ourselves to building a better future for the people of the Republic. Mozambique and for the whole world,” Guterres said in a message sent to Filipe Nyusi.

India emphasized the importance of cooperation between the two countries, expressing interest in strengthening this cooperation.

The cooperation “will deepen further in the coming years, contributing to greater prosperity and well-being for our people,” Indian President Draupadi Murmu wrote.

The United Arab Emirates also welcomed Mozambique’s 49th anniversary of independence and expressed its desire to see the country prosper through strengthened economic cooperation.

On June 25, 1975, Mozambique’s first president, Samora Machel, and the leader of Frelimo, the ruling party that led the liberation struggle, declared national independence after the struggle against the Portuguese colonial regime that began on June 25, 1975. September 1964.
