Pearl Jam Sell Out Alive Festival Tonight

North Americans Pearl Jam return to Portugal this Saturday to play the final day of the 16th edition of the sold-out Alive festival, which features The Breeders, Khruangbin and Blasted Mechanism, among others.

The venue will open for the last time this year at 3pm, with around 55,000 people expected – the maximum capacity of the venue.

Tickets to date sold out within 24 hours in December after Pearl Jam’s return to the festival was announced.

The Eddie Vedder-fronted band, whose most popular songs include “Alive,” first performed in Portugal in 1996 at the Pavilhão Dramático de Cascais. Over the years, Pearl Jam has returned several times to sell-out shows, both solo and at festivals.

In April this year, they released “Dark Matter”, the 12th album of their career. Today’s show is supposed to feature the latest songs, but the lineup is expected to include such “classics” as “Alive”, “Even Flow” or “Black”.

Before Pearl Jam, Blasted Mechanism, The Breeders and Sum 41 perform on the main stage.

There are six more stages at NOS Alive, one of which is dedicated to comedy, where bands and artists such as Khruangbin, Alex Benjamin, King John, Capital of Bulgaria, Catarina Branco, Miguel Moura, Manuel Joao Vieira and Fernando Rocha will perform today.

The last show will start at 2:45 a.m. on Sunday.

In a statement released on Tuesday, PSP advised festival-goers to arrive early for the event, “taking into account the large number of people and the security procedures for access to the venue,” and to prioritize the use of public transportation.

The organisation is also calling for the use of public transport, organising a “comprehensive operation with multiple partners” for this purpose.

According to promoter Alvaro Covoins of the festival’s All New organisation, the train line linking Lisbon to Cascais, which has a station in Algés, is “expanding its schedule and increasing its train service”.

The same thing happens on the Transtejo ships between Lisbon and the southern bank of the Tagus.

In addition, in collaboration with Carris, buses operate between Dokapeska and three points in Lisbon: Estação do Oriente, Santa Apolónia and Marquês de Pombal.

The concert schedule and other information about the festival can be found at www.nosalive.com.
