This Sunday, a couple was found dead in the house where they lived in Carreira, Santo Tirso, after three days without any contact. Rosalina and Aires Garcia, 74 and 84, lived alone and had no children. They died without assistance after a sudden illness. The couple’s dog, Zequinha, was next to its owner when the authorities entered the house. The SP is investigating the deaths, but has found no clear signs of foul play.
Aires lay dead on the bedroom floor, at the foot of the bed. The woman, Rosalina, a retired nurse, was sitting on the toilet, her torso bent over her legs, and there were traces of blood on the floor in front of her. Investigators are not ruling out the theory that the woman may have felt ill and that her husband died suddenly while trying to help her. Both were in their pyjamas, in a locked house, and no one had disturbed them.
The family last spoke to the couple on Tuesday evening. The deaths may have occurred that same day. “I called on Thursday evening but they didn’t answer. I kept insisting all day on Friday and today (Saturday) because they didn’t answer I decided to come here and see what was going on,” he said. CM Gualdino Lopez, Rosalina’s brother, alerted the authorities.
The alarm was raised this Saturday at 11:15 GNR Santo Tirso, who about an hour later, with the support of firefighters, opened the door and came across already decomposing bodies.

The autopsy of Aires and Rosalina, which will be carried out this Sunday at the Ave Medical-Legal and Forensic Bureau in Guimarães, will be important to clarify the circumstances of the two deaths. The prosecutor spent 5 hours examining the house.
