A futsal solidarity tournament organized by the Associação Desportiva de Árvore Forças de Segurança Unidas on Sunday in Vila do Conde raised €2,464 to pay for the treatment of Gonzalo, a five-year-old boy from Beja who suffers from cerebral palsy.
The event, which took place at the Ribeirinha Pavilion in Maceira da Maya, brought together some 130 participants, including associations, civilians and members of the security forces. In addition to futsal games, sports clubs’ T-shirts were also raffled off.
Goncalo does not walk, does not speak, he is fed through a tube. He undergoes treatment cycles at a specialized clinic in Braga, in addition to the treatment he receives in his home town, Alentejo. In total, including travel and accommodation, they pay about 25,000 euros per year.
