Proposal to ban TikTok gains momentum in the US

A possible proposal to ban TikTok in the US should be “analyzed,” Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer said. In an interview with ABC News, Schumer says that the fact that the social network is owned by a Chinese company inspires distrust.

“There are people in the Trade Committee who are now dealing with this issue. Let’s see what their findings are,” Schumer said.

On Friday, Senators Marco Rubio of Florida and Angus King of Maine announced the introduction of a bill that would ban TikTok from operating in the US if the social network refuses to cut ties with its current owner, China’s ByteDance. .

However, it has been revealed that TikTok’s executive president, Show Zi Chu, will be heard before the US Congress in March.
