US President Joe Biden addressed the nation from the Oval Office after officially withdrawing from the race for the White House. Joe Biden explained the reasons that led him to this decision.
“This is not about me, this is about you. It has been the honor of my life to serve you,” he began by saying. The US president assured that Americans still believe in “freedom of democracy” and said they are “a good nation because they are good people,” adding that “the United States is at a turning point.”
“I need to unite my party. Nothing can stop us from saving our democracy,” he said.
The US President also added that the country will continue to support Ukraine and work to end the war in the Gaza Strip.
Joe Biden said it was now “time to give a voice to young people” and thanked Kamala Harris, saying she was strong and capable, a great vice president and leader of the country.
“Now the choice is yours. History is in your hands. Power is in your hands,” he concluded.
Recall that after Joe Biden announced his withdrawal, the American president declared his support for Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate.
