Swimming at Salgueiros beach in Vila Nova de Gaia is allowed again after being discouraged since Wednesday due to microbiological contamination, the National Maritime Authority (ANM) announced on Thursday.
A new analysis of the beach’s water quality by the Portuguese Environmental Protection Agency (APA) found that microbiological values were within quality standards, so the recommendation against it was lifted, the APA said in a statement.
“Taking into account the results of the tests and following the instructions of the Regional Health Authority, the inadvisability of swimming at Salgueiros beach has been lifted and instructions have been given to remove the warnings at the entrances to the beach,” he said.
Swimming at Salgueiros beach in Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto, is not recommended from Wednesday due to microbiological levels in the water that exceed reference values.
