According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), mainland Portugal and the archipelagos of Madeira and the Azores are at very high risk of exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UV) this Friday.
This Friday, all areas of the continent are at very high risk of UV exposure, except for Portalegre, Evora, Beja and Faro, where levels are high.
All areas are at very high risk over the weekend, with nine areas at high risk on Monday and the rest at moderate risk.
The Azores archipelago will be at very high risk of UV radiation exposure from Friday to Monday.
This Friday, Madeira Island and Porto Santo are at very high risk. The weekend and Monday are at very high risk.
The UV radiation scale has five levels, ranging from extreme to low risk.
In high-risk areas, IPMA recommends avoiding sun exposure as much as possible.
For very high-risk areas, IPMA advises the use of sunglasses with UV filter, a hat, a T-shirt, an umbrella, sunscreen and avoiding sun exposure for children.
