North American star Simone Biles, the most famous star of world artistic gymnastics, who has already named five exercises, intends to register a sixth exercise with her name, which will be presented at the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.
According to the International Gymnastics Federation, the proposal has already been submitted to the technical committee responsible for making the decision.
Biles, 27, is set to name a new event on the uneven bars, which is considered the apparatus on which the gymnast has had the least success, winning just one of her 37 medals at the Olympics and world championships.
The North American, who has four Olympic titles to her credit, won at Rio 2016 and three more medals at Tokyo 2020, one silver and two bronze, can have six “nominations” in the edition in which she withdrew from competition for mental health reasons.
The gymnast has already written her name in two performances on the vault, two on the floor and one on the Olympic balance beam.
If she can execute the new routine perfectly, Biles will be able to have six named performances, second only to Nellie Kim, a former gymnast from the former Soviet Union who has named seven moves and was an Olympic champion at Montreal 1976 (three titles) and Moscow 1980 (two).
