Fábio Ribeiro, known as “Baron da Pastelheira”, will only stand trial for aggravated drug trafficking. The crime of criminal association of which he was accused along with other defendants is being revealed. One of the defendants, Fábio’s immediate arm, asked for the investigation to be opened because she did not agree with the crime of criminal association and, now a judge at the Porto Criminal Investigation Court, agreed with her. The person who benefits from this decision is also the “pastry baron”. The investigating judge will also request social reports from the defendants in pre-trial detention, who, after analysis, may be subject to less severe measures. The person who will not benefit is Fábio, who, when he was arrested last April, was on parole for another crime.
Let us recall that last year the Pica-Pau/Picole network, headed by Fabio Ribeiro, was dismantled, using bars and workshops as supermarkets for real drugs. There are 37 defendants in total, three of whom are in pre-trial detention. At the time of his arrest, Fabio Ribeiro had a suspended sentence, which means that he is currently serving his sentence.
The “Baron”, also known as “Krilim”, had long boasted of his wealth, but when the PSP arrested three members of his network last March, he suffered a serious blow. He was forced to go into the field to cut costs, and a decline began. In those days, collaborators were caught on the phone, who confirmed that the seized drugs belonged to the “Baron”. “Fabio was robbed of 30 kilos of drugs (….) They took a hundred thousand euros,” an employee and a family member said in a conversation.
