Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira (Aprilia) finished 10th in the MotoGP British Grand Prix sprint race on Saturday, which was won by Italian Enea Bastianini.
The Almada rider, who started from 15th position, crossed the finish line 13.328 seconds behind the winner, with Spaniard Jorge Martin (Ducati) in second place, 1.094 seconds, and Spaniard Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia) in third, with a time of 2.023 seconds.
Championship leader Italy’s Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) crashed with six laps to go but retained his race lead by one point over Jorge Martin.
The Spaniard immediately took the lead at the start, but Enea Bastianini managed to take first place from him three laps before the finish.
It was Bastianini’s first sprint race victory and moved him up to third in the MotoGP World Championship, 55 points behind his teammate and ahead of Spaniard Marc Marquez (Ducati), who also fell on Saturday from fourth.
Bagnaia retired for the fourth time this season, while Miguel Oliveira, who finished 10th on Saturday, failed to score a single point and remains 13th with 51 points.
The main race of this season, the 10th in a row, will take place on Sunday.
