Two people, a man and a woman, died when a hotel collapsed at 11pm on Tuesday in the wine town of Krewe, on the banks of the Morsel river, in Germany.
Authorities say there are still people buried and seriously injured. There were 14 people in the building at the time of the disaster, five of whom escaped without injury.
The whole family was saved despite the fear
At 8:10 a.m. local time (7:10 a.m. mainland Portugal), the first victim was rescued. Shortly after the initial rescue, a child was pulled from the rubble, the German newspaper reported. Image.
The mother of the rescued child was also safely taken out, but the woman remains concerned about the disappearance of her husband, who was presumably buried in serious condition.
Some time after the rescue of the mother and son, the father was also pulled out from under the rubble and his life is not in danger.
“We are happy! There is a special family reunion going on at the hospital now. When the woman was rescued, she thought her husband had died,” one of the people responsible for the rescue operation told Bild.
Major rescue operation
Around 250 emergency services personnel are on scene, including firefighters, police and medical services. Special forces, rescue dog teams and drone units have also been deployed.
“Given the nature of the disaster, this is a complex operation,” police added. Only emergency teams can enter the building, exercising maximum caution.
31 residents who were in the vicinity of the building were evacuated from their homes.
