The Vila Real Judicial Police have arrested a 54-year-old man who shot another man during an argument in the village of Corveira, Valpaços. The victim was shot in the knee and hospitalized. The two men had been arguing late Tuesday afternoon.
The argument between them took place on the road connecting Carrazedo de Montenegro with Chavez. Without foreseeing it, one of the men pulled out a revolver and shot his opponent.
The attacker was detained at the scene by PNP officers, who later handed him over to the judicial authorities.
The victim, who suffered minor injuries, was rescued by volunteer firefighters from Carracedo de Montenegro and taken to hospital.
The reasons for the discussion are unknown.
The suspect is charged with committing a crime causing grievous bodily harm and will appear before a criminal investigation judge who will be heard at the first court examination and will then be informed of the coercive measures.
